Remote Work Policy Foundations
A six-module course for HR and in-house counsel who must turn employment consultations into remote work rules that managers can enforce without improvising.
Learning outcomes
- Draft eligibility criteria that distinguish role-based hybrid from discretionary exceptions.
- Write location and travel language that survives a works-council reading.
- Align equipment allowances with documented employer duties.
- Build manager scripts for refusals, revocations, and temporary abroad requests.
- Assemble a consultation pack your counsel can review without rewriting from scratch.
Modules
Inventory emails, handbooks, and side deals that currently define “remote” in your organisation.
Design role categories and documented exceptions without promising universal entitlements.
Clause labs on where work may occur and how changes are requested.
Allowances, security baselines, and what belongs in policy versus IT standards.
Temporary abroad stays, registration triggers, and sequencing a narrower launch.
Works council dialogue rehearsal and final markup clinic.
Instructor
Employment policy educator with prior in-house HR counsel experience in Northern Germany. Focuses on remote work frameworks rather than litigation advocacy.
Informational pricing

FAQ
Is this legal advice?
No. The course teaches drafting and consultation preparation. Your retained counsel remains responsible for advice on your specific facts.
Do we need an existing Betriebsvereinbarung?
Helpful but not required. Without one, exercises use a sample pack—and you will feel the limitation when stakeholder role-play starts.
What is a real limitation of this course?
We do not cover sector-specific collective agreements in depth. If your workforce is heavily bound by a Tarifvertrag with unique remote rules, you will still need specialist counsel to adapt Module outputs.
How much time per week?
Plan three to four hours across live sessions and markup homework for five weeks.
Participant notes
“Module 3’s revocation exercise exposed that our managers had never practiced saying no. Useful discomfort.”
“Strong on German hybrid framing. The EU travel section is intentionally brief—treat it as a map, not a finished policy.”
